it again and can't stand barack obama or anyone he nominates. in a way john mccain made the surge into the war as john mccain would have fought it as commander in chief and anyone who questions it gets the wrath of mccain. i watched that part of the hearing with colonel jack jacobs and patrick murphy, the former pennsylvania congressman who served in iraq. both of them were at the bottom of the pile as he called it. you just view war differently. but the lesson that these two men took from vietnam are so different. hagel took the questioning, the same as patrick murphy did, fielded lied to. >> here's lindsey graham. badgering hagel. badgering is the word for it. whether the iranian revolutionary guard should be termed a terroristic organization. i think this is aimed directly at south carolina's right wing. let's listen. >> if there was a vote on the floor of the senate this afternoon to label the iranian revolutionary guard, the people who have killed our soldiers in iraq, some of the most vicious people to the people of iran themselves, if there were a vote tomorrow or this afte

>>> let me finish tonight with this. the obama administration has found a way to offer birth control to women who want it without infringing on religious belief. it's a victory for the president and roman catholics. how do we ensure that women get birth control? how do we insure that religious institutions aren't forced to pay for it? access to stand-alone-coverage. changes where they will put their policies on sale. the key here is it gets around a pair of goals that were in conflict, are not anymore. one goal is to reduce dramatically the number of unwanted pregnancies. regular use of birth control is one way that works. in this case, the catholic church is protected from having to pay for birth control insurance. my own idea is the solution the obama reached is win-win. getting birth control to women for free will help to make it free. to keep the catholic church out of that transaction makes it no less beneficial to the goal of averting unwanted pregnancies. and with them in many cases, the decision to have an abortion. this is what good, smart, progressive morally uprigh

over time because the initial criticism was that it came from partisans who thought that barack obama did a very poor job and those people could not criticize obama so they had to criticize somebody and had to criticize me or the process but once they realized it did not have that much to do with whether obama did well or mitt romney did well and had more to do with the two of them, that kind of went away, but the intensity of it was because there was this dramatic difference, with what happened? the moderator did not do this -- i now like to be criticized, it's not one of my favorite things to be but -- as i said, it dissipated and is gone, and most of the people who did the criticizing, many of them have come to me afterward and said, i am sorry. >> you said of the moderator should be seen little and heard even less, and in use of the moderator should stay out of the way of the flow. that being a very valid point of view, why not challenge a candidate who, you are listening to someone hide something beyond reality or live or simply-- hype something beyond reality or lie of simply mi

, but there is a good chance you haven't heard about it. president obama continued the push for commonsense gun reform today in minneapolis. he was surrounded by law enforcement officers with the city and the state. the president asked americans to stand with the men and women in the line of fire. >> weapons of war have no place on our streets or in our schools or threatening our law enforcement officers. our law enforcement officers should never be outgunned on the streets. %, unemployment is where it was when barack obama took office, we are adding about 150,000 jobs a month, but john, the real problem here is this slow growing is occurring when we have had five straight trillion dollars worth of defense deficits to pump it up and we get $85 billion a month in transfusions a month from the fed and we are still limping along like a mature and quite frankly modest economy. >> eleanor? >> i think these numbers reflect the fact that government is shrinking and the defense department really pulled back in the last quarter of last year. it is a cautionary sign and looks like both parties are kind of sleepwalking their way toward a sequester. the ropes don't want to -- the republicans don't want to give up anything on the revenue side they would rather take a hit in spending. the democrats have protect social security, pell grants and medicaid, so they are not going to cave first. so if neither party blinks, the sequester will go ahead and we'll see further contraction in the economy. but you know, i'm not that glammy. i take my cue are from mark sandy, an accomplished ec

, austerity has been hurting obama's economy, for the last four years. government spending has gone down in ten of the last 12 quarters. under ronald reagan and george w. bush you will find this part of economic growth and spending is pretty much all growing under the two republicans. you can see it under the graph. under reagan, it added in his first term a bit more than 6/10th of a percentage point, under bush, about half a point. under obama, it has been negative. if obama is a socialist he is terrible at it. here is the interesting thing, if the economy is shrinking because the economy is shrink, we now added new jobs, almost 200,000 jobs in december. and we added more than 150,000 jobs in january. what is amazing about this, this period was fiscal cliff element, it was what everybody was saying the economy really needed was deficit reduction. and this is a period in which we didn't come to a big deficit reduction deal. what we did is raise taxes. it cut the deficit a bit, but not a big deal. what happened to the markets? somehow we kept adding jobs and the stock market did really we

wrote to president obama asking for the underlining memos that the administration still has approdeclined to provide to congress. 11 senators signed that. a total of eight democrats and three republicans. democrat ron wyden was leading the charge on a letter. the chairman of the senate judiciary committee patrick leahy was on the letter on the democratic side. on the republican side, a motley crew of senators. you had mike lee of utah, grassley of iowa, susan collins of maine. that sort of indication of where you get concerned about the drone issue on the hill. you see a smattering of liberal democrats concerned in the house and a small handful of libertarian-leaning republicans that have expressed concerns on this issue. host: these underlying memos that the members of congress want, do they have to do with just drone strikes in general, drone strikes that have occurred against other alleged al qaeda operatives? guest: they may not happen to withdraw on strikes in general. they might have to do with drone strikes in specific. one of the issues that came up here is our anwar
